Say Hello to Shellie!

So here is the Cuttlekids die card – Shellie the Turtle. I think this little turtle is a cute die – and since I like turtles, I had to have it.
But it was a Cuttlekids die, and I didn't use a Cuttlekids machine - I used my Cuttlebug!

Shellie:
Card dimensions – A2 (5 ½” x 4 ¼”)

Materials: CS – (Bazzill); Cuttlekids die – Shellie, Cuttlebug embossing envelope (Tiny Bubbles), Cuttlebug (Provo Craft), Dotted organza ribbon (May Arts), Foam tape (Artful Stamper).

This card was so quick to make – no stamping, no watercolouring – just a little turtle. I hand-cut the grass out of black and light blue cardstock and added dimension to the grass with different thicknesses of foam tape, for interest.

So when you are using your Cuttlebug:
The usual Cuttlebug sandwich layer is as follows (starting from the bottom layer, up):
A Plate – very bottom layer
B Plate – next layer
Die (facing up) – next layer
Cardstock – next layer
B Plate – very top layer

But you want to use the Cuttlekids dies in your machine too, right?
Here is the sandwich layers you need to use (starting from the bottom, up):
A Plate – very bottom layer
C Plate – next layer
Cuttlekids die (facing white foam pad up, picture side down) – next layer
Cardstock – next layer
B Plate – very top layer
Then run it through your Cuttlebug as usual. Simple as that!

Do you own other major brands of dies too (like Spellbinder dies, Sizzix, etc.)? You can use those in the Bug too - you just need to play with the sandwich layers and sometimes add a few layer of cardstock shims to get the pressure right. There is also a Wizard Embossing Kit that you can get to help you adapt the Bug to other Company dies, if needed (check out Scrappin' Great Deals in the Spellbinders section for this if you are in Canada). Lots of choices! If you need some help finding the right sandwich layer - check out the Provo Craft site HERE for their list of suggested sandwich layers - just click on the Download link, and then on the Sandwich Stack Matrix pdf! Such a great resource!

And remember – Michaels (in Canada anyway) has all the Cuttlebug and Cuttlekids machine, dies and folders on sale for 50% off! RUN!!!!!!

Until next time, have a great day!
