Let It Snow – Man!

I hope everyone had a great weekend. I sure did – at the CreativFestival in Toronto. Lots to see and buy! A big HI to anyone who was there with me this weekend – and to those who stopped by to do the little “Make & Take” I was doing of Basic Watercolour with markers.

As the weather turns colder, I start to think about snow! Here is a Viewmaster Card about snow – snowmen that is! Viewmaster cards are a great way to feature all 4 images of the Sunshine Designs Nuggitz cube stamps, since there are 4 images on the one stamp cube. I don’t have a stamp with this sentiment “Let It Snow – Man” so I used my computer to print it out. To tie it into the watercoloured look, I used my markers to highlight below the letters of the print-out. Hope you like it!

Let It Snow – Man!:
Card dimensions – 6” square
Main Image:

All 4 images:

Materials: CS – Red, Aqua (Bazzill); Paper –Accademia (Fabriano); Ink – Black StazOn; Stamps – Snowmen Cube, Christmas 1 Cube, Christmas Mini Cube (Sunshine Designs); Tombow markers, waterbrush, silver brad, foam tape, Computer font.

Happy Monday – and tomorrow is Turtle Tuesday!
Until next time, have a great day!

Classes

I'm so glad that everyone liked the cards from the Intro and Advanced Watercolouring with Markers classes this past weekend - with Krista Schneider. I am really looking forward to teaching these classes across Ontario!

If you are interested in having these Watercolouring classes in your area - check with your local scrapbook store (LSS) to see if they can arrange this. They can contact The Stamp Barn to arrange for one of the instructors to come out and/or carry the Sunshine Designs line of stamps!
Remember to come to the Creative Sewing & Needlecraft Festival this weekend - to see the watercolouring technique there as well! Krista and I will both be there.

Sorry there's no Turtle Tuesday today! I do have a fantastic new turtle stamp though - but it is quite involved. I'll show it to you next Tuesday - I think you're going to love it! Very cute!

Until next time, have a great day!

Happy Monday!

Well, I’m back after a week off of the blog – feeling very refreshed and creative! Hope you’re ready for some new things!

My little family and I had a great weekend away this past Saturday & Sunday. I had the opportunity to sit in on the Introductory and Advanced watercolouring classes with Krista Schneider (the artist behind Sunshine Designs) in London, Ontario – and let me say it was SO much fun!
And if any of you ladies from those classes are reading – HI!

The class was at a phenomenal stamp store called the Stamp ShackHERE is a link to their website. There were so many stamps in there, it took me almost my entire lunch hour to look through them all, along with literally hundreds of fantastic card samples. What a treat! And, of course, I had to buy some new stamps – how could I not with such inspiration?

Sunshine Designs is now owned by The Stamp Barn in Ottawa, Ontario – while Krista is still the fantastic artist behind those great stamped images that Sunshine Designs has become so well known for. HERE is the link again to the Sunshine Designs website, with the new contact information – and where you can also do on-line ordering of those stamps if you wish.

So today – I am going to show you the cards we made in the 2 classes in London - I hope you are inspired!

Introduction to watercolouring with markers (3 cards):

Advanced watercolouring with markers (4 cards):

Materials (I’ve tried to make a general list all of things used, for all cards): CS – Bazzill; Paper –Accademia (Fabriano); Ink – various waterproof inks (black, metallic, Versamark for embossing); Stamps – Sunshine Designs, Artful Stamper; Ribbon; Tombow markers, waterbrush, foam tape, Stickles, embossing powder (gold).

If anyone is in the area next weekend – the Creative Sewing & Needlecraft Festival is on at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre in Toronto, Ontario. I am demoing watercolouring with markers for Sunshine Designs/Stamp Barn on Saturday – so try to stop by if you are going to the show. Make sure you introduce yourself to me! HERE is the link to the show.

Until next time, have a great day!

Relaxing is Mice!

Well this card is the one my friends and I made on Monday. It was so hot that day (and all long weekend), and this is exactly what I felt like doing - RELAXING. If only the three of us had been on the beach like these little mice!

There’s a lot going on for this card. The orange CS background is stamped randomly with the Mouse Foot image, the main mouse image is watercoloured, and the sentiment is popped up over the dotted ribbon. Lots of bright colours to celebrate that last burst of summertime weather. It’s only down (on the thermometer) from here!

Relaxing is Mice!:
Card dimensions 5 h x 6 1/2 w

Materials: CS – Black (CTMH), Turquoise, Orange; Paper –Accademia (Fabriano); Ink – Archival Black (CTMH); Stamps – Mouse Foot, Relaxing is Mice, Beach Bums (House Mouse); Ribbon – Polka dotted organdy (ribbon share texasjodylynn); Tombow markers, waterbrush, Pop Dots.

Until next time, have a great day!

Purely Turtle

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving Long Weekend (Canadian) this past weekend! And it definitely wasn’t Fall weather either, at least not in Ontario. Our thermometer said 30 degrees C!!!!! WOW!

I had a couple of friends over for a few hours Monday afternoon – for some House Mouse watercolouring! I’ll show you that card tomorrow. But for today – it’s Turtle Tuesday!

Purely Turtle:
Card dimensions 5 ½ h x 4 ¼ w
Materials: CS – Black (CTMH), Purely Pomegranate (SU!), Green (Bazzill); Paper –Accademia (Fabriano); Ink – Archival Black (CTMH); Stamps – Flower Turtle (Inky Antics), Flower (Michaels $1 stamps); Ribbon – Purely Pomegranate (SU!), Tombow markers, waterbrush, Pop Dots.

Until next time, have a great day!

Let Heaven and Nature Sing

Here’s that little Christmas Birds cube in a Christmas card. This is the same bird cube I used on the Faith is the bird Sympathy card from last week. I promised a Christmas card to compare and here it is.
Sorry I missed Turtle Tuesday, but we’ll have a new one next week.

Nature Sing:
Card dimensions 5 ½ h x 4 ¼ w

Materials: CS – Black, Breeze (CTMH), Real Red (SU!); Paper –Accademia (Fabriano); Ink – Archival Black (CTMH); Stamps – Christmas Birds cube (Sunshine Designs); Ribbon – red grosgrain (ribbon share – texasjodylynn), Tombow markers, waterbrush, Cuttlebug and embossing folder (Provocraft), foam tape, glitter glue (Crayola), sandpaper.

The snowflake embossing is distressed using sandpaper to reveal the white core of the card stock, and the berries on the little branch in the bird’s mouth are covered I glitter – not sure that it shows, but it’s nice and sparkly!

I’m working on finishing a Christmas card that turns into a tealight cover – and I’ll do up the instructions for everyone as well, in case you want to make one yourself. Those little flameless tealights are great things for the paper candle covers!

And do you remember the collapsible calendar from THIS POST? Well, the 2008 template is up on the Victorine Originals website if you want to get a head start on yours for the New Year. Click on 3D Templates, then scroll down to the collapsible calendar.

Until next time, have a great day!

Festive Wishes

Happy Monday! And happy start to the October month! I hope that everyone had a great weekend, and that you were able to spend some quality time with those you love. I know I did!
October is a fantastic month – and this next weekend is one of my favourites – Thanksgiving! Great food and smells in the kitchen, good friends, time with family – lots to be thankful for!
AND – Sunshine Designs is coming out with some fantastic new holiday stamps – which will be available right after the Thanksgiving weekend! Wait until you see them – again they are all MUST HAVES!

So let’s start off this week with a nice quick traditional Christmas card. It’s definitely time to start thinking about getting serious on making your Christmas cards for this year. The holidays will be here in no time.

Festive Wishes:
Card dimensions 5 ½ h x 4 ¼ w

Materials: CS – Bamboo (CTMH), Real Red (SU!), Green (Bazzill); Paper –Accademia (Fabriano); Ink – Archival Black (CTMH), Real Red (SU!); Stamps – Christmas 2 cube, Christmas 1 Word cube (Sunshine Designs); Tombow markers, waterbrush, Pop Dots, foam tape, glitter glue (Crayola).

To make the main image, I stamped 2 copies of the Holly sprig, watercolouring all of 1 of the images, and only the leaves of the other image. I then cut those coloured holly leaves out and used small pieces of foam tape to layer those leaves on top of the main image leaves. It’s a nice 3-D effect, and a simple way to add even more depth to an image.

Until next time, have a great day!
