Faith is the bird….

Today’s card is one that I have wanted to make for some time. First off, I love the sentiment – it is such a beautiful quote.

Faith is the bird that feels the light and sings when the dawn is still dark.
Tagore.

The trouble was that I had just never found a stamp that I liked well enough to use this quote with. The first thing I thought of when I saw the new Christmas Bird cube from Sunshine Designs, was not Christmas, but instead this quote. The birds are absolutely beautiful on the cube and I just had to try it out.

Faith is the bird:
Card dimensions 5 ½ w x 4 ¼ h

Materials: CS – Cocoa (CTMH), Turquoise; Paper –Accademia (Fabriano); Ink – Archival Black (CTMH); Stamps – Christmas Birds cube (Sunshine Designs); Ribbon – turquoise grosgrain (ribbon share – texasjodylynn); Tombow markers, waterbrush, Pop Dots, sandpaper, glitter glue (Crayola), computer font, Cuttlebug & embossing folder (Provo Craft).

I have always hesitated when it comes to making sympathy cards. They are so hard to get the right feeling. But I have added the sentiment “With Sympathy” inside this card and I'm really happy with the feel of this one.
I will show you a Christmas card using this bird cube, later on. Christmas will always be my favourite time.

Until next time, have a great day!

Back up and running!

We are back up and running after a major melt-down of our computer.
We managed to pick up some nasty viruses or something along those lines last week – that completely shut down our system. So – after some quick retrieval of our personal files and purchase of a brand new fancy-dancy computer system, we are back up and running!
SO! Happy Turtle Tuesday!

Turtle on Black Dots:
Card dimensions 5 ½ h x 4 ¼ w

Materials: CS – Black (CTMH), Lilac (Bazzill); Paper – Black Dots card base and envelope (Sunshine Designs), Accademia (Fabriano); Ink – Archival Black (CTMH); Stamps – Flower Turtle (Inky Antics); Punch – Photo corner (SU!); Tombow markers, waterbrush, mini Pop Dots.

This week, I hope to show you the Christmas projects that I promised last week – before all the computer problems.
And if you are able – make sure you get out to enjoy those beautiful fall colours! I love this time of year!

Until next time, have a great day!

Girlie Turtle Shower

Happy Turtle Tuesday!
Here’s a little shower card for a little baby girl. I love the pink and brown combo – it’s such a nice change from the usual baby pink.

Shower:
Card dimensions 5 ½ h x 4 ¼ w Materials: CS –Chocolate, Hollyhock, White Daisy (CTMH); PP – More to Adore (CTMH); Ink – Black, Hollyhock (CTMH); Stamps – Fluffles the Cat Set (Stampendous), Birthday Turtle set (Inky Antics), sentiment (Inkadinkado); Punches – small oval, large oval, slit (SU!), corner rounder (EK Success); paper piercer/mat (Making Memories), Prismacolor pencils, Gamsol, blending stump, Pop Dots, mini Pop Dots, sandpaper.

The scalloped brown piece was made using the slit punch and some of the CS edges were distressed with sandpaper. CTMH card stock is perfect for this technique, as it has a white core that is revealed with any kind of distressing like that.

Until next time, have a great day!

Click HERE to see all the details. Just remember – the deadline is September 30th - so get your stuff in the mail to Krista. And tell her Pam sent you!
Here’s my take on it – hope it inspires you to make one!

Boo!:
Card dimensions 5 ½ h x 4 ¼ w

Materials: CS –Black, Lilac (Bazzill), Orange; Paper – Accademia (Fabriano); Ink –Black StazOn; Stamp – Hallowe’en Cube (Sunshine Designs); waterbrush, Tombow markers, Pop Dots, black hemp twine (CTMH).

To do the stamped orange background, I used a black Tombow markers and inked up only the BOO! portion of the main image stamp. Once I coloured the BOO! section, I "huffed" on the stamp (to re-moisten the black ink) and then randomly stamped on the orange CS. This is a great way to get coordinating patterned paper that goes perfectly with your main images.
I also distressed the edges of the mat CS (both black and lilac) with the open blade of a pair of scissors.
So, what’s coming up this week? More Christmas projects, and of course, a turtle for tomorrow – Turtle Tuesday!

Until next time, have a great day!

Festive Wishes

Festive Wishes!
It’s Friday – so let’s celebrate. I got a few minutes to paint last night, and here’s what I did! This card is another one of those FUN tent toppers originally designed by Michelle Wooderson (see her blog HERE). The weather is starting to get cooler – so again I have my mind on Christmas cards.

Festive Wishes Penguin Tent Topper:
Card dimensions 5 ½ h x 4 ¼ w

Materials: CS –Black, Desert Sand (CTMH); Paper – Accademia (Fabriano); Ink –Black StazOn, Bashful Blue (SU!); Stamp – Penguins Cube, Christmas Mini Cube, Christmas 1 Word Cube (Sunshine Designs); Punches – Giga Scalloped circle, Mega Circle (Marvvy), waterbrush, Tombow markers, Ribbon – Blue grosgrain (ribbon share - texasjodylynn).

These types of cards are so great for those Giga Scalloped Circle punches that everyone has. The only trick to these cards is to make sure that you glue the topper (my scalloped circle) with only enough sticking up on top of the card, so that it still fits into the regular envelope. To do this – simply lay the card base on top of the envelope you are using before you glue on your topper. Place your topper and make note of how much is to stick up on top, and how much of it you need to put your glue on. Simple. Really!

Until next time, have a great day!

Happy Turtle Tuesday!

This one was a quick and easy one that I did with my new Best Friends Paper Pack from CTMH that arrived today. Nothing fancy on it – just a bit of fun - and of course a turtle!
I have a friend who is starting a brand new job today - so this little turtle is a "Good Luck" to her! Hope it goes well!

Hollyhock Turtle:
Card dimensions 5 ½ w x 4 ¼ h

Materials: CS –Garden Green, Hollyhock (CTMH); Paper – PP: Best Friends (CTMH), Accademia (Fabriano); Ink –Black StazOn; Stamp – Flower Turtle (Inky Antics); Markers - Tombow markers, Blush, Hollyhock (CTMH), Punches – Giga Scalloped circle, Nega Circle (Marvvy), waterbrush, Ribbon – Hollyhock Oraganza (CTMH), Garden Green small brads (CTMH), paper piercer/mat (Making Memories), Sakura Stardust pen.

I used the CTMH markers for the pink and noticed that they don't blend as well as as Tombow markers on the watercolour paper - interesting experiment. Certain colours blend well, but not the Hollyhock for sure. I think I will try the CTMH markers on heavy CS instead of watercolour paper to see the results of that. Watercolouring is all about experimenting - so don't be afraid to do that!

Until next time, have a great day!

A visit from Santa

Here’s a card using a new St. Nick stamp I picked up at Michael’s recently. I don’t have a lot of Santa stamps – and this one really caught my eye. I hope you like it too!

Old St. Nick:
Card dimensions 6 ” square

Materials: CS –Green, Red (Bazzill), Black, Grey Wool, Grey Flannel (CTMH); Paper – Accademia (Fabriano); Ink –Black StazOn; Stamp – Jolly Santa (Stamps Happen, Inc.); Tombow markers, waterbrush, sand paper, Cuttlebug & Snow Flake embossing folder (Provo Craft).

The edges of the mats are distressed with the open blade of a pair of scissors, and the Cuttlebug embossed panel is distressed with sandpaper to reveal the white core of the CTMH card stock.

Until next time, have a great day!

Moon Reindeer

Dashing through the snow….. Well, not quite yet, but this card will make you feel like singing that song. This is a card using yet another one of the fantastic new releases for the holiday season, from Sunshine Designs.

Moon Reindeer:
Card dimensions 5” h x 6 ½ ” w

Materials: CS –Green (Bazzill), Cocoa (CTMH); Paper – Accademia (Fabriano), Gold metallic; Ink –Black StazOn; Stamp – Moon Reindeer (Sunshine Designs); Ribbon – brown grosgrain (ribbon share - texasjodylynn; Tombow markers, waterbrush, gold glitter glue (CTG).

Unfortunately – the photo doesn’t pick up the sparkle of the gold glitter on the stars and the bells on the reindeer’s belt. Very sparkly, my Mum (AKA Glitter Queen) would be pleased! Too bad she can’t figure out how to get onto my blog. She’s a bit technically challenged (sorry Mum!).

For tomorrow – a visit from Santa himself!

Until next time, have a great day!

Turtle Tuesday - Trick or Treat!

Wishing everyone a safe and happy first day back to school!

Even though it’s been many years since I actually had to go back to school, I still love looking at all the neat new school supplies kids can use! Is that weird??!!

First things first – I wanted to answer a question from Flossie’s Follies on the Night Village stamp from Sunshine Designs used on the card I last posted. Flossie – with this stamped image, you get the outlines of the shapes, and it is up to your imagination to colour it as you wish, and add the shadows as you think they should show. For this image, it is quite easy to think about the Moon coming up behind the little figures, so their shadows would fall in front of them. I tried to make their shadows the rough shape of their figure – to make it more realistic. Take a look at the photo in the last post to see what I mean. Hope that helps, and answers your question! And if anyone else has any questions - just ask - I'd be happy to help.

So on to today's card!

Happy Turtle Tuesday – and since it is getting to the Halloween season – it’s a Trick or Treat Turtle card.

Trick or Treat:
Card dimensions 5” w x 6 ½ ” h

Materials: CS – Black, Green (Bazzill); Paper – Accademia (Fabriano); Ink –Black StazOn; Stamp – Halloween Turtle Clear Set (Inky Antics); Punches – Slit Punch (SU!), ¼” hole (Staples); Ribbon – orange grosgrain (ribbon share - texasjodylynn), black gingham (Offray); Tombow markers, waterbrush, Sakura Stardust pen, mini goggle eyes.

Stayed tuned all this week for some fun Christmas cards I’ve been working on – especially if you like the watercoloured stuff!
Until next time, have a great day!
