Do you know that it is 5 monthsTO THE DAYuntil Christmas????? Can you imagine? Have you started making your Christmas cards yet?
Just a suggestion – do a few each month so that you are not in a big panic at the last minute. Or participate in a Christmas Card Swap, which is a great way to get many different looking cards and learn different techniques and layouts. I know I will be joining a Christmas Card Swap with a few ladies I did this with last year – so to those ladies, if you’re reading this – start your engines!

Until next time, have a great day!

It's a recycled Turtle Tuesday

My apologies, but I don't have a brand new Turtle Tuesday card for today. So instead, I thought I would show you again - my personal favorite Turtle Tuesday, in case you are a new visitor to my blog. And remember, if you like the Turtle Tuesday cards, you can find a list of all my special topic cards on the Right side of this blog, under Categories. Just select Turtle Tuesday and you can review all the previous weeks cards if you would like.

Turtle Spinner Birthday:
Card dimensions 6" x 6"

And here it is with all 4 of the images in the spinner showing:

Materials: CS - Cocoa, White, Sweet Leaf, Blush (CTMH); PP - Cocoa Cafe Designer Collection (CTMH); Ink - Cocoa (CTMH); Stamp - Birthday Turtle Clear Set (Inky Antics); Coluzzle swivel knife/mat/Spinner card template, brad, 2-way glue (ZIG), dimensionals (SU!), pencil crayons (Laurentian), Sakura Stardust Pen.

And here is the original write up on the card, for your reference:
The card base is made out of Cocoa CS cut to 6" x 12" and folded in half to form a 6" x 6" card. Using the Coluzzle Spinner template, cut out the card top and spinner wheel. Briefly assemble the card top and spinner wheel with the brad to see where you wish to cut out the hole/window (so you can reveal the spinner), then take apart and cut out the window. Assemble the top and spinner again, and stamp your images inside the hole onto the spinner, turning the spinner between images so that the previous image is completely hidden when you stamp the next image. Colour images as desired - I used basic pencil crayon colouring - quick and easy. I attached the topper and spinner to the card base with dimensionals so that the recipient could easily turn the spinner wheel. DONE!
Now - don't have the Coluzzle Spinner Card template? No problem! Click on THIS LINK to go to the tutorial on SplitCoast Stampers where it shows you how to make your own spinner card without this Spinner template (however you still do need some way of making a circle - try a plate if you don't have the circle template). The Spinner Card Template just makes it a bit quickly and easier - but anyone can make this card regardless.

Until next time, have a great day!

Surprise Message Pop-up

Today’s card is a cute little Surprise Pop-up – and you can download the template yourself HERE from SplitCoast Stampers. I can see myself making more of these cards – and using a multitude of different images and sentiments. Once you get the template set it is not difficult to do at all!

Surprise Pop-up Card:
Card dimensions 4 1/4” w x 5 1/2” h
And here it is with the Surprise Pop-up and message showing:
Materials: PP – Designer Series – Spring Showers (SU!); CS – White, Bamboo (CTMH), Barely Banana (SU!); Paper - Copy Paper (Staples); Punches – 1 ¼” circle, ½” circle (SU!), ¼” hole (Staples), Corner rounder (EK Success); Ribbon – Ribbon share (texasjodylynn); Stamps – Bloom with Happiness (SU!), Ink – Cocoa (CTMH); Prismacolor pencils, Sakura Stardust pen.

Since the image was so small – I did not use Gamsol to blend the pencil colours – as it was not needed. I used the Sakura sparkle pen to go over the hanger (for it to look like metal) and then I highlighted the dot in the centre of each flower as well. I think these are SO cute!

Until next time, have a great day!

Sunshine and Bon Bons

Today’s card is a little 3x3 note card for any occasion. And who can resist candy???

Candy Bon Bons:
Card dimensions 3” w x 3” h

Materials: CS – Turquoise, Light Purple (Bazzill); Watercolour Paper (Hilroy); Ribbon – Ribbon share (texasjodylynn); Stamps – Bon Bons Cube (Sunshine Designs), Ink – Archival Black (CTMH); Pop Dots, Tombow markers, waterbrush (CTMH), Sakura Stardust pen.

The image was stamped in Archival Black waterproof ink, and then watercoloured with Tombow markers – I love colouring this way! Allows for great shading! I highlighted the edges and dots of the candies with a Stardust pen. Not sure that this really shows in the photo, but it’s there.

For anyone who is interested or is waiting to see the new fall images that are coming out from Sunshine Designs – check out this link to SUNSHINE DESIGNS new Fall catalogue. It is a pdf file. WOW – can’t wait until these come out. I love them all!

Until next time, have a great day!

Go! Go! Turtle Tuesday!

Go! Go! Turtle Tuesday!!!
Today’s card is a turtle for a little boy. I left off any main sentiment and opted for a background of the word ‘Go!’ – this way I can add a punch out of any main sentiment I may need, for any special occasion. It’s handy to have some of these general cards around for you to customize on a moments notice.

Go! Go! Turtle:
Card dimensions 5 1/2” w x 4 1/4” h
Materials: CS – White, Navy (Generations); PP (Generations); Ribbon – Ribbon share (texasjodylynn); Stamps – Sporty Turtle (Inky Antics), Ink – Black, White Daisy (CTMH); Punches - Horizontal slit, ticket corner (SU!); Pop Dots, Prismacolor pencils, Gamsol, blending stump, large silver brads (Making Memories).

Nothing too difficult on this card. I like the way you can use brads to wrap around ribbon in order to tie it. It’s a nice touch for cards you want a more masculine feel to – instead of fancy bows or knots that might make it seem “frilly”.
The PP from Generations matched so nicely with the little sporty turtle and his baseball!

I’ve got some great new stamps from my favorite Companies (Sunshine Designs, House Mouse, CTMH) – so I hope to play with those soon!

Until next time, have a great day!

It's a Mousey Monday!

Happy Monday - It's a Mousey Monday today!

Yet another birthday card – seems like that is all I am doing this time of year. The House Mouse image is from a swap I did with a couple of friends a few weeks ago – so that we can share each of our different stamps. There are so many different House Mouse stamps, that this is a nice way to try different ones.

Birthday Cupcake:
Card dimensions 6 1/2” w x 5” h

Materials: CS – White, Bamboo, Cocoa, Twilight (CTMH); Ribbon – Designer Ribbon Round – Twilight Series (CTMH); Stamps – Birthday Cupcake (House Mouse), Sentiment – Birthday Turtle (Inky Antics); Ink – Black, Cocoa (CTMH); Heat gun (Marvy), Liquid Applique (Marvy), Pop Dots, Prismacolor pencils, Gamsol, blending stump, Cuttlebug & embossing folder (Provocraft).

I used the open blade of a pair of scissors to distress the edges of the CS mats and used a heat gun to puff up the Liquid Applique – so that it looked like frosting.
These little mouse stamps are so fun to colour – have you tried one yet??
Tomorrow is Turtle Tuesday – hope to see you then!

Until next time, have a great day!

It's a Sweet One!

Well - today is all about "1".
First off, this is my 100th post on the blog! ! How fun is that?
And the card for today, as I mentioned yesterday is my Little Man’s 1st Birthday card, from last week. I told you it was a “Sweet One”!

You’re a Sweet 1:
Card dimensions 5” w x 6” h

Materials: CS – Buttercup, Sweet Leaf (CTMH); PP – Snips and Snails (CTMH); Ribbon – Buttercup Organza (CTMH); mini glue dots, pop dots, deco scissors (Fiskars), Baby Boy buttons (CTMH), computer font.

I used my computer to make a large number 1 template, which I traced onto the back of the PP and then matted with Sweet Leaf CS, and then Buttercup CS.
I have the Snips and Snails scrapbooking paper pack as well – so this card will fit perfectly into his scrapbook as a keepsake. We got some great photos of him eating his first Birthday cake, too! What a mess!!!!

Until next time, have a great day!

Shell-ebrate!

Here’s a little Birthday card for DD who turns 3 in a few days. My, how time flies! I will try to post DS’s card tomorrow – the one from last week (it’s a ‘Sweet One’ – you’ll see what I mean!)

Shell-ebrate!:
Card dimensions 4 1/4” w x 5 1/2” h
Materials: CS – Buttercup, White (CTMH); PP – Flutter (CTMH); Ink –Black (CTMH); Stamp – Birthday Turtle (Inky Antics); Ribbon – Buttercup Organza (CTMH); mini pop dots, Prismacolor pencils, Gamsol, Blending stump, Black, Hollyhock marker (CTMH), Sakura Stardust pen, Word Window Punch (SU!), computer font.

A little ‘punny’ sentiment, with the word Shell. The grass is highlighted with Hollyhock marker on the tips of the ones bending forward. DD is learning her numbers and can recognize the 1, 2 and 3 – so this will be fun for her to count and play with!

Until next time, have a great day!

Summertime!

Happy Summertime! We have had such nice warm weather, after funny rainy days – so I was inspired to use the CTMH stamp set Summertime! And it is Friday – what more can you ask for!!

Summertime!:
Card dimensions 4 1/4” h x 5 1/2” w

Materials: CS – White (CTMH) Aqua, Princess Flower (My Mind’s Eye); Ink –Archival Black (CTMH); Stamp – Summertime (CTMH); Ribbon – Pink grosgrain (Wild Asparagus), Twilight organza (Designer Ribbon Round – CTMH); pop dots, Tombow markers, large crystal bling.

No water blending of the Tombow Markers was done as the words/letters/images were small enough that straight colouring was sufficient. I distressed the edges or the Aqua mat with the open blade of my scissors. I really like this effect, and find I am using it on more and more of the CS mats – especially those that show white core when distressed. Give it a try and see how you like it.

Until next time, have a great day!

Ta Da!

Ta Da! I survived the return to work – and you know… it was a whole lot easier than I expected! These things almost always are though, in the end!

So – this morning’s card is a real quick one. Seriously – I think it took about 3 minutes in all! Gotta like that!

Ta Da!:
Card dimensions 3” h x 3” w

Materials: CS – White, Cocoa (CTMH) Blue (CostCo); Ink –Black (CTMH); Stamp – Party Mouse (House Mouse); Ribbon – Blue, Brown grosgrain (ribbon share texasjodylynn), pop dots, Prismacolor pencils.

No blending of the Prismacolor pencils needed on this little image – it was so small, that straight colouring was sufficient. A little gift card, for my Little Man who turns 1 on Thursday!!! I’m hoping to finish off his actual birthday card tomorrow – I’ll post that too, when it is done.

Until next time, have a great day!

Happy Turtle Tuesday and start of July!

Happy Turtle Tuesday – the first one for July! I hope everyone had a wonderful long (Canadian) weekend, and I hope you were able to fit in some of the strawberry festivals that are going on too!
This is also my first day back to work, after a year long maternity leave! Wish me luck!!!

I got some new Paper Packs from CTMH a while ago, and decided it was time to crack them open. So today’s Turtle Tuesday card is using a Paper Pack called “Let’s Get Together” – I hope you like it!

Turtle Get Together:
Card dimensions 4 1/4” h x 5” w

Materials: CS – Garden Green, Cranberry (CTMH); PP – Let’s Get Together (CTMH); Other paper – Watercolour Paper (Hilroy); Ink –Archival Black, Garden Green, Breeze, Buttercup (CTMH); Stamp – Flower Turtle (Inky Antics); Ribbon – Turquoise grosgrain (ribbon share texasjodylynn), Buttercup Organza (CTMH); pop dots, waterbrush (CTMH), deco scissors (Fiskars).

The little turtle was watercoloured using ink pads and a waterbrush – a great way to get the exact match to your patterned papers and cardstock by using the coordinating ink pads!

Until next time, have a great day!
