WELCOME LITTLE ONE

Well, the weather outside is frightful.
But the fire is so delightful.
And since the school buses are cancelled - let it snow...ooops I mean let it STOP snowing and blowing!
Darling Husband (DH) still has to go to school!!!!!

Hope everyone is driving safely and keeping warm inside today!
So, in light of that, something warm and fuzzy to post - for a new little baby. Who can't resist baby things - I know I can't!

Welcome Little One:
Card dimensions: 6 1/2" w x 5 " h.
Black mat dimensions: 6 1/4" w x 4 3/4" h.
Pink polka dot patterned paper dimensions: 6" w x 4 1/2 h.
Materials: CS - black, pink, white; PP - Polka dot (CTMH); Punches - Giga scalloped circle (Marvy), 1 1/4" and 1/2" circle (SU!), Daisy (Marvy); Stamp - RIveting (SU!); Ink: Black, Blush (CTMH); Ribbon - white grosgrain (CTMH), black gingham (SU!); black eyelets (CTMH), Coluzzle swivel knife/mat/circle template, paper piercer/mat, mini pop dots, mini glue dots, 2 white buttons, baby socks (Chikitoe), baby shoe template (Templates by Donovan).

This was a fun and quick set to make!

To make the baby carriage on the card - punch out a Giga scalloped circle and cut it in half. Slide 1 of the halves behind the other until you have a carriage base out of 1 half and a carriage hood out of the other, being careful to match the scallop pattern along the edge. Decorate as desired and use a small bit of ribbon as the handle. For the wheels, layer circles and secure with an eyelet as the wheel rim. I used the stamp set Riveting (SU!) and stamped the "Welcome Little One" on white CS, punched it out using the 1 1/4" circle (SU!) then punched out the inner circle decoration using the 1/2" punch. This 'lifesaver' looking piece then fits over the knot in the ribbon and is secure all by itself. To do the matching envelope - just punch out a bit of the seal edge with your 1 1/4" circle punch and glue (or stamp) another Riveting "Welcome Little One" in the place of the punched circle. See the picture to better get an idea of how that was done.

To make the baby shoes - I used a template from a great site called Templates by Donovan.
Here is the exact link to just that template: Baby Shoe Template. If you've never check out this site, you should. It has a lot of great templates with interesting ideas. I made a zoo cage animal card from a template on this site a while ago, but I'll post it on Wednesday after Turtle Tuesday - so you can see all the things you can do with those templates.
When you make these shoes, cut out the two pieces from your patterned paper (times 2, for 2 shoes), but then cut out another set of soles only from neutral cardstock, so that you have a firmer base to work with. First glue the tabs as indicated around one of the cardstock soles, and then glue the patterned sole to the outside bottom of that, to cover the tabs and make it look the same as the top of the shoe. Decorate as desired.

They are really to be shower favour cups but I thought they would look cute with a little pair of socks in them, and put on top of a present!
That's it for today - stay warm and safe!
Drop by tomorrow for another installment of Turtle Tuesday!
Until then, have a great day!

I also saw these on SCS. What a beautiful present. Great idea with the scallop punch.
